Michelin:
Den 28. maj 1889 blev Michelin grundlagt i Clermont-Ferrand i Midtfrankrig. Virksomheden havde omkring 50 ansatte. To år senere udviklede Michelin det første aftagelige, luftfyldte dæk.
I dag, 120 år senere, er Michelin verdens største dækfabrikant med 118.000 ansatte i 170 lande. For at markere 120-års jubilæet åbner Michelin museet ”L’Aventure Michelin” i Clermont-Ferrand, hvor besøgende kan følge virksomheden og dækkets historiske udvikling.
Lige siden virksomheden blev grundlagt, har Michelins vision været at lette og forbedre mennesker og varers transport og mobilitet. Visionen opsummeres i virksomhedens slogan ”Vejen frem”
Pirelli:
In 1872 Giovanni Battista Pirelli, a young engineer, founded Pirelli & C. in Milan at the age of twenty-four. A year later, the first facility for the production of rubber articles was up and running.
Toward the end of the century the process of diversification began: from insulated telegraph cable (1879) to underwater telegraph cable (1886) to the first bicycle tyres (1890). The first automobile tyre came off the line in 1901. With the new century, Pirelli began enjoying its first sporting victories and building plants abroad: in Spain (1902), Great Britain (1914) and Argentina (1917).
Starting in the 1920s, drivers like Nuvolari, Ascari and Fangio regaled Pirelli Tyres with a rousing series of auto racing trophies. In 1927 the Superflex Stella Bianca racing tyre was introduced.
The beginning of the 1950s saw the birth of the Cinturato radial, which would leave a decisive mark in the history of tyres. In the meantime, Pirelli continued with its massive geographical expansion, which proceeded through the '60s and '70s, acquiring the German tyre manufacturer Veith.
In the mid-'70s Pirelli invented the low profile tyre, the famous P7, one of the most important inventions in the industry after the Cinturato radial.
During the 1980s Pirelli acquired the German motorcycle tyre maker Metzeler. in 1994 Pirelli presented the P Zero ultra-low profile tread, used for the most prestigious tyre models.
The new millennium saw yet another revolution in the tyre sector: the MIRS™ production system, introduced in 2000, for the automated fabrication of high-performance tyres.
While MIRS™ "mini-factories" were built in Germany, Great Britain the United States, extending also to motorcycle tyre production, in 2002 the Bicocca pilot plant in Milan began operating its futuristic CCM (Continuous Compound Mixing) system.
In 2006 all tyre-related activities were grouped together under Pirelli Tyre S.p.A. And In 2007 the Car segment was characterized by greater volumes and by continuous growth in the high performance tyre sector, where Pirelli once again confirmed its leadership with the launch of the new Pzero. During the year, Pirelli Tyre launched a new manufacturing unit for car tyres in China and expanded and consolidated the activities of the new industrial pole in Romania, with the goal of strengthening its presence in the markets of the Far East and Central-Eastern Europe. The sale of the stake in Olimpia, completed during 2007, allowed Pirelli to focus further on its core businesses and to carry out a plan for distribution of resources to shareholders and optimizing the equity structure.
Goodyear:
The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company blev grundlagt i 1898 da Frank Seiberling købte virksomhedens første fabrik med penge, der var lånt af en svoger. Gummiet og bomulden skulle dengang transporteres halvvejs rundt om jorden til en by med begrænset adgang til jernbanetransport. Seiberling navngav firmaet efter Charles Goodyear, der opdagede metoden til vulkanisering. Han udviklede også Goodyears letgenkendelige symbol: Støvlen med vingen.
Med blot 13 ansatte, startede Goodyear produktionen af cykel- og vogndæk, underlag til hestesko og sågar poker chips. Den første måned udgjorde salget 8.246 dollars. Siden det første cykeldæk i 1898 har Goodyear udviklet sig til at blive verdens førende dækproducent – en status man allerede opnåede i 1926. De legendariske første år udgør stadig grundlaget for den måde Goodyear driver sin forretning på og ikke mindst måden, hvorpå virksomheden ser sine kunder.
Når man i dag ser på det globale Goodyear-mærke, med dets tusinder af nyskabelser og opfindelser, ser man samtidig en afspejling af den innovative og dristige ånd fra virksomhedens grundlæggere. Goodyear er i dag verdens største dækproducent, repræsenteret på seks kontinenter og med et årligt salg på mere end 15 milliarder dollars. Derudover producerer Goodyear adskillige andre anderkendte varemærker som Dunlop, Kelly, Fulda, Lee, Sava og Debica. Goodyear tilbyder desuden en lang række gummi- og polymerprodukter til det industrielle marked.

Nankang har over 50 års erfaringer med udvikling og produktion af dæk. Nankang har fabrikker i det meste af Asien. Nankang udvikler og tester alle dæk udfra de nyeste og aktuelle EU standarder. Nankang er blandt de mest populære dækmærker i Europa i sammenligning pris/kvalitet. Nankang producerer ca. 5 mio. dæk om året, hvoraf 1.5 mio sælges i Europa..
